If you want help pinning yours down, sign up now!

  • Shift Limiting Beliefs - Our beliefs create pathways in our brain and our brain loves its pathways because it's the easiest route. If you already know which beliefs are limiting you but still don't have what you want, your beliefs are not aligned with your desires. Sign up now to change beliefs and start consciously creating what you want in your life!

Counseling

Sometimes we just need to talk it out. Being seen, heard, and understood are needs that we all have. Counseling can help us develop awareness of things that are making us feel stuck and move past them.  Our friends and family may want to help but they are not objective because they are close to us. Having someone to talk to who is less emotionally attached can help us process our emotions, feel understood, and figure out our next steps. Counseling can also help people move past trauma that some may not even be aware of. Trauma can lead to symptoms that make us feel unmotivated or stuck. If you'd like to learn more, contact me for a free 30-minute consultation.

Trainings

  • Why People Commit Domestic Violence and How Domestic Violence Intervention Can Help - People often wonder what causes domestic violence and whether those perpetrating it can be helped. Most perpetrators can’t even explain themselves why they are being abusive. This training examines the causes, defines intimate partner violence, identifies the dynamics present, and explains how we know that physical assault is not an isolated event in intimate partner violence. It also outlines the importance of intervention programs and what they teach.

  • Power Over vs Personal Power:  Assisting Those Perpetrating Domestic Violence in Moving to a Healthier Reality - Feeling empowered is a universal human need. Unfortunately, for those perpetrating intimate partner violence, an unhealthy way of achieving power has developed and they cannot feel powerful without taking power away from others. This training examines heathy and unhealthy ways of gaining power, the two different realities that people are in, and how domestic violence intervention programs assist clients in moving to a reality that empowers themselves and others.

  • How to Recognize the Tactics of Those Perpetrating Domestic Violence and Hold Them Accountable - The tactics of those in the power over reality can be quite subtle and extremely confusing to those of us in the personal power reality. In whatever capacity we are working with them, it’s important to be able to recognize these behaviors and why they are being used. There is no true accountability in intimate partner violence or the power over reality. Therefore, boundary setting and confronting controlling behavior is imperative if we want to assist in the change process.  This workshop examines these issues.

  • Anger vs Domestic Violence - People often think that those perpetrating domestic violence just have anger management issues. This workshop examines anger, domestic violence, how they are related, how they are different, and effective interventions for both.

Domestic Violence Intervention (BIP)

Our domestic violence intervention program (BIP) begins with an evaluation that takes an hour and costs $250. As per the Oregon Statutes, the program for men is provided in group sessions with a minimum of 36 groups that are weekly and for one and a half hours per week. The groups are $40 and there is a one-time purchase of the workbook which is $15. There is also an accountability plan assignment. All written work is checked in individual sessions in addition to groups and all written work is given to clients upon entry into the program.
The program for women also begins with the evaluation and then is provided in individual sessions which cost $90 per hour.
I recognize that most people attending domestic violence intervention are court-ordered to do so, and nobody wants to be “ordered” to do things. I also recognize that people often feel embarrassed and shameful about their behavior or involvement with the legal system. Please know that my number one rule is no judgment. Whether that is in my conversations with you or in my groups, there is a no judgment policy. Becoming accountable is empowering and it can’t be done with judgment and shaming. Most of my clients have a great deal of shame and it is my goal to assist them in moving away from judgment of themselves and others and moving towards acceptance and compassion for themselves and others. So, the groups are a supportive, respectful, safe environment and most clients verbalize gratitude for the information they are learning.

The world is seeking happy, healthy, lasting love. Even if it is court-ordered, this is your opportunity to learn how to achieve it.
